The company helps reform Phra Pradaeng police station with 5S

The ten-month 5S development project was started at Phra Pradaeng police station on 15 February 2008 with the support of NHK SPRING (THAILAND), the pioneer company of 5S activity. Volunteers from the Bangpoo plant of the company have been working as advisors to improve this police station.
The police officers are divided into four teams, which all focus their work in different areas. The first team works for checking the landscape of their police station. The second team works with office documentation. The third team is improving the IT system. Finally, the fourth team's goal is to improve the station's landscape.
In addition, students from Samutprakarn Technical College also support these teams in their technical work, such as electricity and computer systems.
All four teams apply 5S theory to improve the police station every Friday. The budget of this 5S activity is supported by NHK SPRING (THAILAND).
The chairman of the company, Mr. Yoshinori Omori, did the first audit for the improvement of the four teams on 23 May 2008. The next audits will be done in September and December.

Supporting "5S" Development in
the Royal Thai Police

As we are a pioneer of the 5S activity in Thailand, we would like to extend this worthy know-how to Thai organizations. In 2004, we were asked to teach how to implement and practice the 5S activities at Preng Police Station, Samutprakarn province by its chief officer.
We sent voluntary staff to the police station from October to December 2004 to support the implementation of "5S". It was difficult at the beginning because the policemen thought that 5S was just about cleaning and arranging. But they gradually changed their thinking and attitude when they realized that the practice of 5S helped them to work more systematically.
After they succeeded to implement 5S and discovered its importance, we supported them to publish 5,000 copies of the 5S handbook for policeman, which later were distributed to many other organizations. This book and our support were well recognized in the Police Department of Thailand. Now, the Royal Thai Police is spreading "5S" throughout its organization.

The 5S development project at Phra Pradaeng police station succeeded beautifully

NHK SPRNG (THAILAND) completed the 5S development project at the Phra Pradaeng police station in September 2009. Mr. Hiroyuki Kado, the president, attended the closing ceremony at the Phra Pradaeng police station in Samut Prakarn province. The company had supported the budget for this project since February 15, 2008, from the beginning of the project until the completion.

For years, the 5S activity has been considered important among private and government sectors as it is one element of working well. Practicing the 5S activity helps build up a strong fundamental working system. It also helps to reduce wastes of time.
In other words, it brings a more productive work environment.

The 5S development project at the Phra Pradaeng police station hoped to serve people at their highest levels of satisfaction. The project, therefore, targeted to improve office documentation, the station's landscape, environment, and IT system. More important than improving surroundings, the project has encouraged awareness of maintaining the 5S activity to all policemen, in order to achieve the policy "Police Station for People". The awareness of 5S does not only keep the systematic work sustainable, it can also be applied well to daily life.

Finding these values of the 5S activity, thus, NHK SPRNG (THAILAND) has determined to develop and pass the 5S theory to many organizations. This time, this 5S development project provides NHK SPRNG (THAILAND) with success and pride. It was awarded as the project for the police stationand for people.
