"NHK SPRING (THAILAND) has contributed to nature conservation in Thailand since 14 years ago."

Mr.SAMART SUMANOCHITRAPORN
Director of the Wildlife Conservation Office under the National Park,
Wildlife and Plants Conservation Department,
Ministry of National Resource and Environment

The first project that NHK SPRING (THAILAND) contributed is to support our budget for nature conservation activity from 1994 to 1996. NHK SPRING in Japan and NHK SPRING (Thaialnd) were involved in growing young plants and distributing them to village people in the Northern regions.
The main purpose of this project was to revive mountainous areas and to support villagers with income from edible plants. This project was very useful because people became more conscious in protecting the forest. Now they realize how to plant properly without harming the natural surroundings. It has helped to reduce slash-and-burn agriculture and opium cultivation. The project has also helped them find jobs and earn money.
The second project is building a training center. NHK SPRING (THAILAND) presented a budget to Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn in order to build a training center at the Phufah Development project in Nan province. The purpose of this project is to revive the forest and develop job opportunities for villagers. Lumber and tea leaf cultivation are developed in order to add to the value of products. Also, they are trained in food preservation. Therefore, the villagers have more opportunities to work. I would like to thank you NHK SPRING (THAILAND) very much for these strong contribution.
